Vardy Porch Pickings grew out of something simple: a summer evening, a front porch, and the kind of music that has echoed through these hills for generations. What began as an experiment in community became one of the most warmly received traditions the Vardy Community Historical Society has offered. Now we’re bringing it back. Join us on Saturday, May 30th and after that the 3rd Saturday of each month, for live traditional Appalachian music on the front porch of the historic Mahala Mullins log cabin in rural Hancock County. Bring your lawn chairs, your family, your friends, and your appetite. We’ll have food, good company, and music worth staying for.

These evenings are free and open to everyone. Donations are optional, but appreciated, and go directly toward supporting our mission of preserving the history and heritage of the Vardy-Blackwater community. Learn more
